Foster Information & ApplicationFoster homes are a critical part to a shelter dog's journey. Without foster homes, they spend everyday in kennels or crates, usually with limited interaction from people. Dogs come to the shelter as strays and we have no back story on them. A dog will often act differently in a shelter than he or she would act in a home setting. For example, a dog in the shelter might appear anxious or whine whereas if the same dog is placed in a foster home, the anxiety subsides and whining stops. A foster parent must be patient with behavioral issues. The shelter volunteers will not know every detail of a dog's personality and behavior, but we can test a dog with other dogs for temperament. If you have size or breed restrictions in your area, please let us know. Please read our expectations below and fill out the application if it feels like a good fit for you.
